TDO Launches Dual Cleaning Campaigns in Golo and Rokero with UNICEF Support

In its unwavering commitment to improving public health and hygiene, TDO has initiated two significant cleaning campaigns under the UNICEF project. These campaigns are being conducted at the gathering point for IDPs in Golo and in the market area of North Jabal Marra Locality, Rokero.

As part of these initiatives, TDO distributed essential cleaning equipment, including wheelbarrows, shovels, and other tools, to empower community members and WASH volunteers to maintain cleanliness in their environments. This equipment plays a crucial role in supporting sustainable waste management practices and reducing health hazards in both locations.

The cleaning campaign at the Golo site focuses on creating a healthier living environment for internally displaced persons (IDPs). Meanwhile, in Rokero, the campaign targets the market area, emphasizing the importance of cleanliness in bustling public spaces. Together with dedicated WASH volunteers, TDO is fostering a culture of hygiene and collective responsibility in these communities.

These campaigns underline TDO’s mission to enhance the quality of life for vulnerable populations. By collaborating with partners like UNICEF and engaging local communities, TDO continues to drive impactful, grassroots initiatives for sustainable development.

Community Engagement and Sensitization for Sustainable Cleanliness

Following the successful completion of the cleaning campaigns in Golo and Rokero, TDO organized a meeting with community members and WASH volunteers to reinforce the importance of ongoing cleanliness and hygiene. The meeting served as a platform to sensitise participants on the long-term benefits of maintaining a clean environment, the proper disposal of waste, and the collective responsibility in keeping their surroundings safe and healthy.

During the meeting, TDO highlighted the impact of the cleaning initiatives and emphasized the need for continued cooperation from all sectors of the community. The involvement of local leaders, residents, and WASH volunteers in these discussions ensures that the message of hygiene and environmental stewardship is reinforced, fostering a sense of ownership and commitment to sustainability.

Through these efforts, TDO remains dedicated to not only addressing immediate sanitation needs but also creating lasting behavioral change within the communities it serves. The partnership with UNICEF continues to strengthen the organization’s ability to implement effective WASH initiatives and contribute to the health and well-being of vulnerable populations.
